Hair Products 101
There are SO many hair products on the market, that is makes it difficult to know what to choose, what to spend money on, and is it even worth it?! Yes, it’s worth it! As long as you invest in the products that are best for your individual hair type and needs.
At Haven, we carry IGK, Kevin Murphy, and K18. If any of those products interest you, let’s chat at your next appointment, and I will give you recommendations you can drive home with day of! A handful of these items will be below, because I truly love them and are my go to’s for most of my clients.
Let’s talk hair types. Every shampoo/conditioner/styling spray/etc. is made differently, and some are better for thin/fine hair, while others are better for thick/coarse hair. Keep in mind, just because you have thick hair, doesn’t automatically make it coarse. The individual hair strand can be classified as fine, medium, or coarse. Think of a single strand of hair as a piece of yarn…if you hold a single hair strand in between your fingers, does it feel silky (fine), rough like cotton (coarse), or in-between (medium)? Thickness (density of the hair) is the amount of hair strands on your head. You can have Fine/Thick hair. Medium/Thin hair, etc.

I recommend salon quality products to all my clients. Drug store products can have fillers and unwanted ingredients, not to mention any products on Amazon can be fake, and no one wants to spend their hard earned money on a label alone, especially if you have color treated or damaged hair. Your hair health is just as important to me as the color service I provide for you. Always feel free to message me for any hair product recommendations or questions you may have!

The Girl Behind The Chair
Welcome, Welcome! If you are reading this, thank you for being here! I started a website to give my clients a place to see the services I offer, my policies, and photos of my work all in one place. I wanted to add a blog to the mix for you to get to know me, The Girl Behind The Chair, and to give me a place to talk in depth to you about various topics, product recommendations, hair tutorials, my favorite items (including skin care, make up, clothing, and in between). Before we get into all of that, let me introduce myself!
I was born and raised in Lawrenceburg, TN, where my family still lives, where my husband and I met, and where we got married. It’s a tiny little country town, but to me it’s a little slice of heaven and holds so many memories and loved ones. I am the oldest of five kids, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Not to mention a new nephew who is the sweetest little squish you’ve ever seen! My husband and I have been together since 2009 (time goes way too fast!), and we have lived in Nashville for around 10 years.
I went to college in Franklin, TN where I got my Bachelor’s in Fashion Design. From there I worked at a corporate apparel company for a handful of years before I decided to go back to school to become a hairstylist. Hair has always been my joy, and I loved everything about it since I was young. I would give friend’s “haircuts” (lol), dye and cut my own hair, and intently studied every hairstylist when I got my hair done. I knew it was what I wanted to do for my career, so I took the plunge and enrolled in the night school program at Paul Mitchell. I now work at Haven Hair Company in Nashville, where I have the most amazing boss and co workers, who have become some of my very best girlfriends, and I couldn’t imagine a better salon to call home. I specialize in blondes and lived in color, but I also offer base colors and haircuts. They say “When You Do What You Love, You Never Work A Day In Your Life,” and as cliché as that is, it is such a true statement, and I am thankful to have found that for myself. My husband is a musician, and has played professionally around 7 years. He has a studio for music production in our home, and that is usually where you can find him. Music runs through his veins, and I am so proud to say we are both doing what we love individually and get to share that with each other.
We have the sweetest pup named Maverick. He’s a 1 year old Long Hair German Shepherd and we are so obsessed with him. In our spare time we are either hanging out with friends, our pup, or working on house projects. We love to travel and spend quality time with our families. I am a TOTAL foodie and love nothing more than going out to dinner or enjoying a cocktail (tequila please!).
I love sharing products with my clients and friends, so I will be getting haircare, skincare, and more ready to share with you all!
Now that you know a bit about me and my family, I can’t wait to meet you, get to know you, and create beautiful hair for you!
