Hair Products 101

There are SO many hair products on the market, that is makes it difficult to know what to choose, what to spend money on, and is it even worth it?! Yes, it’s worth it! As long as you invest in the products that are best for your individual hair type and needs.

At Haven, we carry IGK, Kevin Murphy, and K18. If any of those products interest you, let’s chat at your next appointment, and I will give you recommendations you can drive home with day of! A handful of these items will be below, because I truly love them and are my go to’s for most of my clients.

Let’s talk hair types. Every shampoo/conditioner/styling spray/etc. is made differently, and some are better for thin/fine hair, while others are better for thick/coarse hair. Keep in mind, just because you have thick hair, doesn’t automatically make it coarse. The individual hair strand can be classified as fine, medium, or coarse. Think of a single strand of hair as a piece of yarn…if you hold a single hair strand in between your fingers, does it feel silky (fine), rough like cotton (coarse), or in-between (medium)? Thickness (density of the hair) is the amount of hair strands on your head. You can have Fine/Thick hair. Medium/Thin hair, etc.

I recommend salon quality products to all my clients. Drug store products can have fillers and unwanted ingredients, not to mention any products on Amazon can be fake, and no one wants to spend their hard earned money on a label alone, especially if you have color treated or damaged hair. Your hair health is just as important to me as the color service I provide for you. Always feel free to message me for any hair product recommendations or questions you may have!
